近日,中国科学院海洋研究所研究团队在冷泉区柯氏潜铠虾Shinkaia crosnieri共生菌群落中发现了共生菌代谢通路的互补性,代谢产物渗漏到群落中促进了共生菌的合作,从而提高了群落整体的适应性,这对认识共生菌对化能环境的适应机制具有重要意义。相关研究成果发表在mSystems上。
海洋无脊椎动物与微生物建立的共生关系是其在化能生态系统中建立群落的关键,外共生菌能够在动物表面形成浓密的微生物膜,有助于代谢物在群落内部的分享,但是代谢物相互作用的方式及对适应性的贡献仍然是未知的。
研究团队探索了热液、冷泉的优势种柯氏潜铠虾的外共生菌的代谢通路完整度及表达情况,结果表明,南海F冷泉区柯氏潜铠虾外共生菌组成以甲烷氧化菌为主;研究发现了共生菌之间代谢通路的互补性,硫发菌解毒甲烷菌氧化氨产生的羟胺、亚硝化球菌利用甲烷菌渗漏的甲醇、硫发菌利用群落中其他微生物氧化硫化氢产生的硫单质,这些中间代谢物还起到储存能量的作用,这一发现解释了中间代谢物如甲醇、羟胺和硫颗粒在共生菌群落互作中的重要作用,揭示了其营养互作机制及其对冷泉极端环境的适应性。
相关研究工作得到国家自然科学基金、中科院战略性先导科技专项等的资助。
